It's obviously been a while since I wrote on this blog (which at the time had absolutely no direction, either than to tell fun stories of my engagement. My social networking life is now much more organized, and thus will I again be writing on this blog. The plan for now is to write once a week, and each post will focus on one piece of advice on how to stay married (H2SM). Whether or not you are married, have some fun reading these short posts and share them with your friends.
Save Your Marriage Before it Begins (if you skipped the previous paragraph, start reading here)
Are you unsure about whether or not that girl or boy "is the one?" Buy a dog together. Are you already married and wondering how to better connect with your spouse? Buy a dog.

How Whining, Peeing, Pooping, Teething Dogs Will Save Your Marriage
Meredith and I decided to get a chocolate lab (Molly) shortly before our wedding. The first four hours were spent taking photos, petting her, loving her, and looking lovingly at each other. I spent the next hour listening to the most painful shrieks and whimpers I have ever heard. I spent the next six hours in and out of sleep with my right hand in Molly's kennel.
While I went to work each day, Meredith spent many hours a day playing with an ever-growing energetic dog, feeding her, picking up poop and wiping pee-stained carpet (sorry Mom and Dad).
Um...Aren't Those Reasons why NOT to Buy a Dog?
No - for three reasons.
1. Meredith got to see me come home from work, exhausted, but still ready to play with a dog and even lose sleep comforting her. I got to see Meredith put aside trips into town and even wedding planning to care for a very messy puppy. As corny as that sounds, I've seen those same qualities play out in our marriage. It was a glimpse into how amazing of a wife she would turn out to be.
2. A vast majority of my favorite memories with Meredith include Molly, or were even planned FOR Molly. We've had amazing trips to the river, picnics, walks, etc., all things that we may never have had enough of an excuse to do without Molly.
3. This.
